Phases maintenance

Fire extinguisher – initial verification and maintenance – UNI 9994 – 2

1. Surveillance: prevention measure adapted to control, with constant and particular attention, in the location where the fire extinguisher is placed, by carrying out a series of investigations. The monitoring can be carried out by personnel who are normally present in protected areas after receiving appropriate instructions.

2. Control: prevention measure in order to verify, at least once every six months, the efficiency of the extinguisher by carrying some investigations. The service control, review, and testing must be performed by trained personnel.

3. Revision: prevention measure, frequency at least equal to that indicated in the prospectus, in order to verify and make perfectly efficient fire extinguisher. prospectus specifies the frequency of revision, charging and \ or replacement of the extinguishing agent according to the following deadlines.

TYPE OF EXTINGUISHER TIME LIMIT REVIEW WITH REPLACEMENT OF CHARGE
A dust 36 months
For water or foam 18 months
A carbon dioxide (CO2) 60 months

4. Testing: prevention measure in order to verify, with a specified frequency, the stability of the tank or cylinder extinguisher, as forming part of pressure vessels. Extinguishers and CO2 gas cylinders auxiliary must meet the deadlines specified by legislation and manufactured in conformity with Directive 97/23/EC (Legislative Decree 93/2000) must be tested every 10 years by a hydrostatic test duration of 30 seconds at a test pressure (Pt) indicated on the tank. Fire extinguishers that are not already subject to periodic accordance with the law and do not comply with Directive 97 \ 23 \ ce, must be tested every 6 years by a hydrostatic test of 1 minute at a pressure of 3.5 MPa , or as the value stamped on the tank if greater. Hydrants Maintenance

UNI EN 671-1 – Fixed firefighting. Hoses systems. Hose reels with semi-rigid.

The standard specifies the requirements and test methods for the construction and functionality of fire hose reels with semi-rigid hose. The coil must rotate around a pivot. The coil is composed of two circular with a maximum diameter not greater than 800 mm. Connected by internal segments or by a drum with a minimum diameter of not less than 200 mm. For pipes from 19 mm. And 25 mm, and not less than 280 mm. For pipes from 33 mm. The color of the disk of the coil must be red. The rotation of the coil should stop within the limit of a ride when the reel is tested for dynamic braking.
The elementary length must not exceed 30 meters.
The semi-rigid pipe must be in accordance with the European standard EN 694 and shall be provided on the extremity of a dispensing nozzle that allows the following settings of the jet: Closing jet and jet fraziono born and \ or jet. The door of the cassette must be able to open up to approximately 180 ° to allow the unrolling of the pipe in any direction.

UNI EN 671-2 – Fixed firefighting. Hoses systems. Hose with hose.

The standard specifies the requirements and test methods for the construction and functionality of wall hydrants with hoses. The piping must be flattened and conforming to European Standard EN 14 540, the nominal diameter of the pipe must not be greater than 52 mm, the elementary length of tubing should not be greater than 20 meters. The piping must be equipped with the extremity of a dispensing nozzle that allows the following settings of the jet: jet closure, and fractional jet and \ or jet. The stop valve must be positioned in such a way that there are at least 35 mm between each side of the cassette and the outer diameter of the handwheel, is in a position of total opening and closing.
The boxes must be fitted with door and can be closed with a lock. The cassettes equipped with a lock must be provided with an emergency opening device that can be protected only with frangible materials and transparent. An opening device must be provided to allow the periodical inspection and maintenance. The opening device must anticipate the possibility of being fitted with a safety seal. Corrosion resistance of coated parts: it must pass the test of 240 hours in salt spray as specified in ISO 9227. The color of the substrate (saddle saves hose) of the pipe must be red.

UNI EN 671-3 – Fixed firefighting systems: systems equipped with pipes.

Maintenance of fire hose reels with semi-rigid hose and hose with flexible piping. Annual monitoring and verification, carried out by a competent person at a pressure of the network; remember, however, that the said time derives from European legislation, while in Italy, remains in force control six months according to the DPR April 27, 1955 n. 547. Every 5 years, all lines must be subject to the maximum working pressure as specified in the rules 671-1 and \ or 671-2 (12 bar for a minute).

UNI 10779 : 2014 – Fire extinguishing systems. Networks hydrants. Design, installation and operation.

The standard specifies the minimum requirements to be met in the design, installation, and operation of water systems permanently pressurized fire, intended for fire hydrants and fire hose reels. For each hydrant must be at least one room, located in close proximity to the hydrant, in a special containment box, a standard length of hose, complete with fittings and dispensing nozzle. The hydrant outlet shall be in accordance with UNI EN 671-2. The reels must comply with UNI EN 671-1. The fittings must conform to the UNI 804. The bindings must conform to UNI 7422. The column overground hydrants must comply with UNI EN 14384. Underground fire hydrants shall be in accordance with UNI EN 14339.

Fire Doors

Ministerial Decree 10 March 1998 – Annex VI

6.3 Routes of output – All those parts of the workplace for a way out of such passages, corridors, stairs, must be monitored periodically to ensure that they are clear of obstructions and dangers that may affect the safe use in case of exodus. All doors on escape routes should be regularly monitored to ensure that they open easily. Any defects must be repaired as soon as possible and any obstructions must be immediately removed. Particular attention must be paid to the metal door. All fire doors should be regularly checked to ensure that there is no damage and that they close properly. If devices are provided for self closing, the control must ensure that the door rotates freely and that the self closing device actually operates. The doors fitted with automatic closing device should be checked periodically to ensure that the devices are efficient and that the doors close properly. These doors must be kept clear of obstructions. The directional signs and exits must be supervised to ensure visibility in case of emergency. All fire fighting measures designed to improve the safety of the escape routes, such as the systems for smoke, must be verified according to the rules of good technical and maintained by a competent person. D.M. November 3, 2004 G.U. n. 271, November 18, 2004 Rules governing the installation and maintenance of devices for opening doors installed along the escape routes, with respect to safety in case of fire.
Article 4, paragraph C2 The employer must ensure the proper maintenance in accordance with all instructions provided by the manufacturer.
